Music theory for the masses

DOODAD EZ Notes Transposition Wheel

Music students, take heart!  No longer do you need to rote memorize how many sharps or flats are in a key!

Use the patented DOODAD EZ Notes Transposition Wheel and read the major scale directly off the wheel!

The DOODAD EZ Notes Transposition Wheel is a circular musical slide rule, designed to match up the intervals in a musical scale with the correct notes. No more wondering where the sharps and flats are in the key of E, or hunting and pecking the right sounding scale on the bassoon.  With EZ Notes, every scale is right at your fingertips!  Built with magnetic backing for attractive and convenient storage on your refrigerator when not in use. Comes with an easy-to-read 400-page user's guide, with a simple 20-page "quick start" pamphlet!

Simply rotate the dial until "do" is directly underneath the key whose scale you want to learn. Now, read your do re mi's directly off the dial. The major scale is do re mi fa sol la ti do. The major chord is do mi sol and the minor chord is do mi(b) sol (where (mi(b) is mi-flat).

Hint: to distinguish sharp from flat, note that any given letter only appears once per scale. So if you see both C and C#/Db in a scale, you know this key uses flats, not sharps.
